Enhanced filtering functionality in version 6.1

Because filtering functionality has been enhanced in 6.1, earlier user-defined query functionality has been discontinued and system-defined query functionality has been deprecated.

Discontinued functionality is no longer available, while deprecated functionality is available but not recommended. After deploying the application, you will need to change existing user-defined and system-defined queries to use the new filtering functionality instead.

User-defined queries

Prior to version 6.1, users could save contact searches as queries and then run the queries to generate lists of contacts that fit the same criteria. This functionality is now discontinued. You cannot access any previously saved queries and you cannot create new queries. You need to create new filters instead.

To upgrade user defined queries:
  1. In NexJ Contact, navigate to the Queries tab in the Customize workspace. Review the existing user-defined queries.
  2. Navigate to the Contacts workspace.
  3. In the Set Filter field, click the down arrow and select New Filter. Complete the dialog as required.
  4. Save the newly created filter.

System-defined queries

Prior to version 6.1, users could create system-defined queries using the Filters screen in the NexJ Admin Console. This functionality is now deprecated. While you may continue using system defined queries, this is not recommended. Instead of using system-defined queries, you need to define equivalent new filters.

To upgrade system-defined queries:
  1. In NexJ Admin Console, navigate to the Filters screen and review the existing system-defined queries.
  2. In NexJ Contact, navigate to the Contacts workspace.
  3. In the Set Filter field, click the down arrow and select New Filter. Complete the dialog as required.
  4. Save the newly created filter. To ensure that the filter can be seen and used by multiple users, in the Save Filter dialog, set the Visibility for the new filter to Public or to another available user group.

Note: In order to be able to set visibility to "Public" or to a user group, you need to have appropriate privileges and permissions.
