I’m following along the Opal training, just getting set up. I’ve followed every step to the letter, and got to Business Models Fundamentals > Chapter 1. Setting Up > Create Train 101 Database – Video 1. About 2:26 into the video, we finish populating the Database Schema tool and click “Run”. When I click Run, I get an Exception where the instructor doesn’t.
I’m using NexJ 13.2.68.0 and SQL Developer on a Windows 7 machine. There were no parameter-value pairs to populate in the Database Schema Tool since I’m not using Microsoft SQL Server or DB2.
The full error message is attached as “error.txt”.0Attachments:

Hey Mark,
A couple of things.
First is… what are you using if you aren’t using MSSQL or DB2? (Oracle I assume). The training is written and tested for MSSQL. This is the environment you should set up to do the training. You can get a developer version to install if you don’t have it.
Second thing I noticed is that your paths look like…
C:/Users/%username%/workspace/mars/training-101/env/Development.environment
It seems to me like your “username” environment variable isn’t being resolved.
I hope this helps,
Ed

Yes, I’m using SQL Developer for work. I don’t think I’ll be able to use MS SQL, would you have any tips for how to resolve this issue between the two applications?
And my username variable is okay, I manually censored it for privacy reasons.
Thanks,
Mark

If I must download MS SQL, what version should I look for?

Mark,
Any of 2016, 2014, or 2012 would be fine. Whatever is convenient for you. If using one of these is possible it would be best as the instructions are not targeted at Oracle.
Thanks, Ed
